How do I burn tokens?

You can burn your tokens directly through Monlabs. Connect your wallet, select the token, specify the exact amount of ERC-20 tokens you want to burn, and confirm the transaction. The smart contract permanently removes them from circulation by routing them to an unrecoverable dead address (such as 0x0000...dEaD). Warning: this action is strictly irreversible.

Burning tokens is a tokenomics strategy used to intentionally reduce circulating supply, creating mathematical scarcity. This deflationary mechanic is often used to celebrate community milestones, offset inflation, or increase the proportional ownership of all remaining holders.

Does burning update my Total Supply on block explorers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A burn is a true on-chain event. The smart contract deducts the burned amount from the overall protocol, so block explorers like Monadscan or MonadVision will instantly reflect your newly reduced Total Supply.

Can anyone else burn my tokens?

No. You can only burn tokens that you currently hold inside your own connected Web3 wallet.

How do I burn my liquidity pool (LP) tokens on Monlabs?

Accepted Answer

Burn LP tokens directly through our Burn feature - no need to touch the DEX UI. Select your LP token, input the amount (most founders burn 100%), and sign. By burning your LP tokens you send those receipts to a dead address, permanently locking the liquidity inside the DEX. Because you no longer hold the LP tokens, you can never withdraw the underlying assets - proving to your community that the trading pool is permanent and secure.
